It sure has been a while since I last watched a Japanese production and am actually enjoying them a lot. Unlike the Korean drama and movie, the J pieces are less “dramatic” (spelled exaggerating) at times and with 11 episodes in almost all of its serials, I somehow find them more appealing; entertaining and not too time consuming. Yet am open to good Korean productions such as my favourite “My Sweet Seoul” and the likes. For the moment, I will stick to the J-culture for a while.

電影的賣點絕對是因為男女主角。看到海報中人物的表情大概就會明白他們的性格吧？感情的牽扯總是离离合合、難舍難分。我就愛看劉若英如信手拈來的演繹，愛聽陳奕迅不費力气的歌唱。我個人覺得電影并沒有很好看，但也不算浪費時間就是了。起碼“味道等于回憶”的這個概念還是無法否認的。

Truly love all the classics or what I would call the old movies. Somehow December is just perfect for revisiting the good memories for some people, yet in this case it is my first encounter with the era of great movies I have not had the chance to experience if not for these movies. Love the couple or should I say the trio for without Tony Randall it may be a different concoction altogether. (pics taken from here) And a bonus to this wonderful day of movie marathon was that the Parker 61 has arrived! One look at it and I know it’s exactly the one Ah Gong had and would give to his “heir”. Praise the loving God for this wondrous gift and to Dan the person who must have felt my earnest plead to get one of those 61, a sincere “Merry Christmas and God bless.” He must have felt and seen my gratitude.

Am really impressed with this variety show and all the guest appearances, I think the Koreans really put in their all when they are at work and at play! And I have since forgotten how beautiful Hong Kong(HK) was if not for this episode filmed in HK… …and of course the forever star, Leslie Cheung.

The Koreans have ”Christmas in August” whereas the Amercians celebrated Christmas in July back in the 40s. Just kidding, but both movies are great, and I am not kidding you. Watch it and learn why “If you can’t sleep at night, it isn’t the coffee, it’s the bunk!”

Parker 61

“Ah gong” (my maternal grandfather) once owned a pair of Parker 61; a pen and a pencil in the 1950s. He would proudly pin them in the pocket on his shirt to show that he is a learned intellect in those days when most people might be illiterate. He wrote great manuscripts and letters with that fountain pen and left the pencil as an ornament. Those two were his prized possessions and he would not have parted with them if not for his beloved grandson. “Ah Gong” loved me most, well he said so himself and I have no doubt at all for his immense love for me was and still surpasses all … …indeed, he was the one to bring me to Christ, and had given me this greatest love of all. I did not inherit the pair of Parker 61, brother dearest did but lost it some years back to our dismay. But I know he meant for brother dearest to have it as an heirloom just as he had wanted to leave his inheritance which was well-kept in a biscuit tin for his most precious grand-daughter. And thus, I will find the Parker 61 and present it to the heir once again.

I am really in the mood for old movies and stuff these days…the weather turning colder each day and then I found this…Now before I get to watch it someday, the music especially with the effect of a record rather than the CD will add a bit of romanticism and nostalgia to a perhaps less desirable Monday evening.

Have a cuppa while you enjoy the soothing melody…

Groundhog Day

The trailer sums up the plot well, but the presentation may be a bit misleading. Besides how funny it can be as one experiences the same day repeatedly, it can be both disturbing and tragic! Yet the surrealism of this concept is so real when you can see how our lives seem to be going round the circle; waking up, working, resting and maybe sometimes with a bit of varieties, some twists and turns, then the whole cycle moves on… So what will you do if you are Phil who got stuck in the same day and only you are aware of your own plight whereas all others around you are kind of oblivious of their own existence (or should I, can I say pseudo-existence)? Will you see the people around you for the first time? Will you be running errands for what truly are meaningful? Will you still appreciate your breathing each day and live life to the fullest for as long as the days are going to be? And if you know the answers, why are you still living a life that may no longer be considered alive?
