Can’t really remember how I got hold of the the volume of these four titles by Marguerite Duras and had finished the Ten Thirty on a Summer Night. Rather quick read, one that you can easily finish within an afternoon while sipping your tea, only that the plot may leave you with an urge to get hold of some liquor instead. I don’t think I have come across anything quite like this book, so subtly weaving a story on past love, being caught in love and betrayal. And the homicide that comes after the betrayal for some or self destruction to complete the betrayed spouse’s new love life are both intriguing, especially when I happened to catch the Japanese movie, Suspect X, of which the theme somehow coincides with this novel. How far will you go for love, especially when you are betrayed? I have not thought much about it, am just starting on yet another novel and certainly am going to catch more movies coming my way. Movies and books, the best treats for a weekend.
