Finally watched the movie, aka “Radio Star” in English. A great production, certainly one that the Indie Rock lovers would see eye to eye with. The band No Brain acted as the only Rock Band in a small town, calling themselves the East River band is a big fan of rock veteran Choi Gon, a once popular star. When Choi went desperate and was arranged to deejay at the run down radio station in the small town, he went from a loser to a talented radio host and gained such popularity that eventually the entire nation was tuning into his programme. Yet when given a chance to cut a new album and bounce back as a singer, he turned down the offer only to stay true to his manager cum long time comrade in the music industry Min Su. What I really enjoyed about the movie was the great rock pieces performed by No Brain and the many life stories shared by the local people who appeared as guests to the radio host. Though cliché, the tales were down to earth and convincing for a small town as such. Well, I am just glad I got to catch the movie and am revived by the spirit of Hard Rock!
